brown-1940s-embossed-social.jpg。This is a gorgeous piece of fashion history from the fabulous 40s\'! The crown is formed in a conical shape and it slants forward. Coordinating color grosgrain bands surround the crown and end in a large bow at the center front. A wide downturned brim is attached. Creative dents make the brim even more amazing. The brim also features a scalloped double edge.There is a majestic large ostrich feather emerging from the center bow, projecting sideways and downwards. There is a tiny imperfection on the underside of the brim as shown in photo $6, but is is not seen when worn. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to hide under the hair and help keep the hat in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
