Ready to Ship 1940s Open Crown Lone Hawk Hat Size 7 1/8 。This hat is in original, unworn condition, bought from an estate sale. This is a most unusual hat in that it has a square shape with rounded corners and an opening in the middle. The top and bottom are made of beautiful brown straw, held together by a wide band of beige colored grosgrain. There is a brown grosgrain bow at the center back, which streams down. Very unique and collectible! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials.
