1940s Birdcage Hat - Etsy。This is a stunning and very special vintage hat from the 1940s\'. It is made of chocolate brown straw. The hat is a rounded shape with a peak at the top center, and a rounded front brim, which is covered in pink feathers. The feathered area is covered by a veil which ties at the back. There is a beautiful feather \"bird\' at the side, with long iridescent feathers streaming down. This look is truly exquisite! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war and on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling and artificial flowers were popular. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
